Talking to a group of senior journalists, at the dinner reception H.E. Thatree Chauvachata said that in 2017 Thai Consulate issued 80,000 visas to Pakistanis and this year 100,000 visas were expected to be issued.

He said, “Last year the bilateral trade volume was 1.4 billion dollars and it was in favour of Thailand. There was a big space to increase it with more targeted steps by the two governments including enhanced exchange of information about trade on both sides, arranging more business delegations, visits to explore markets for sale and purchase of Thai and Pakistani goods and services.  Besides more engagement between the two governments, increase in people-to-people contact was imperative.”

The reception was attended by diplomats, representatives of multinational companies, Trade Adviser to Royal Thai Consulate in Karachi Mr. Arif Suleman, Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shahlwani and elite of the city.

The Consul General said Thailand and Pakistan had good diplomatic relations for last 66 years, which were strengthening over the passage of time.

Earlier, in his welcome remarks, Beach Luxury Hotel (Avari Group of Hotels) General Manager M.Azeem Qureshi said hotel business in Pakistan was growing.
